「 invaded it on 12:02 AM 」

YEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Last week we almost got no job to do.

But luckily the agency found slots for all of us, at Raffles City Convention Centre (RCCC). (Omfg I thought its cross country club -.-)

Okay this might sound ulu, but that's because its the old name.

Now it's called Fairmont Hotel, or maybe more familiar to you guys, Swissotel.

It's near City Hall MRT station.

So we went on Sunday, our first time there.

The uniform is quite ugly. At Grand Hyatt you look like a mafia gangster, cool and smart. You only need dark shades. At RCCC you look like a 店小二.

No joke, the uniform is grey and with the black pants, you look wonderful, like some ah pek cleaning toilets in the hotel.

We haven't really get to take photos of ourselves, but hopefully that will come soon.

Anyway, I broke some vases on my first day at RCCC.

I was clearing the decorations on the table, carrying them to the back. Then I lost concentration, I lost control of the tray and I fell onto the ground.

"PIANG~~~" Oh noes.

Got one cleaner suanned me. He was only about 20 plus years old.

“你拿花瓶也不会拿啊?这样也打破。”

Walao eh very hurtful lo :(

Then I quickly apologised and walked off.

I told them I am a first-timer (eh really lo I first timer in THIS hotel). And so the team leader told me when to do what, and other stuff.

Then once, he beckoned me over.

"Hey I got a complaint against you. The customer said he asked you to pour a drink for him and you didn't do it."

Then I explained, since I am the food server, I told the drink server in charge of the table to pour for him. But I think he had forgotten or something.

"It's okay, never mind. Next time you tell the drink server to serve the drink, then after a while you go check. If the customer still haven't get his drink, you come and report to me."

"Luckily he complained to me. If he complained to other people, they will fuck you upside down."

POWER~~~~ Nice example of hotel language.

Anyway then after that I went to the kitchen to take the fish.

The cook asked me something in a muffled voice. I cannot hear. So I "huh?"

This went on for like 3 times.

Then he got pissed off and he shouted to a guy beside him, "我问他,拿几盘鱼,他就一直跟我 huh huh huh!"

Aiyo uncle, if you starting talk in that loud voice I won't huh huh huh liao mah.

And for that day, the OT is until 6am. Breakfast at 2am. You will work till you die man.

The structure is different from Hyatt. At hyatt its a bit more slack, but at RCCC it's very xiong. But both got advantages and disadvantages.

Hyatt:

Pros
- uniform very cool
- can slack
- can work longer, own time own target

Cons
- grooming is very important, strict on the hair etc.
- utensils and cutlery used are very heavy
- very luan, like a maze ( I got lost 2 times)
- more work

RCCC:

Pros
- lax on grooming
- VERY VERY oraganised
- nice canteen
- superiors are quite kind compared to Hyatt
- less work

Cons
- damn organised, organised until you scared
- uniform sucks

Okay in Hyatt, you do everything yourself. You serve the drinks, you serve the food. Bao kah liao. The good thing is that you only need to portion up the fish (which I don't know yet), shark's fin soup, and desert.

In RCCC, good thing is there are food and drink servers. You only serve food if you're food server, vice versa. But the thing is, you have to portion up everything. Every single course except the first one.

So, workload is about the same. But I rather bao kah liao, and serve the drinks rather than portion up every course. Because you can walk around for the slightest reason and escape to safe lands.

Safe lands = without customers, like the bar counter at the back. Seriously I feel very shy and uneasy with strangers. When I serve them I will shake nervously. Like during portioning of shark's fin soup.

Then when I place the food onto the Lazy susan, I will also tremble, because its quite heavy. By the way lazy susan is the round glass thing where you can spin around.

At RCCC, you must portion 8 courses, and change side plate everytime. So you will have to carry plates in and out of the ballroom, and thats darn tiring.

Because if you are in charge of 3 tables, you need to take about 30 plates per course. Which means every 15 minutes. Then you have to clear the plates also, and carry them to the back.

Which means free gym training.

Luckily on monday, (yea we worked on monday, a public holiday -.-) I think I did quite a good job, second time at RCCC. I didn't tremble, I was more confident, and the portioning part was great too. The only kelong thing I did was that I brought too little spoons for the desert -.-

But never mind, 再接再厉!
